The Wednesday Mass Choir is now 95 strong!
WHO: All students in grades 3 - 8 who enjoy singing!
WHEN: The School Mass Choir meets in the church on Mondays immediately after school, from 2:45 - 3:20 PM. We sing each Wednesday at the 8:30 AM Mass. We also occasionally sing at the 11 AM Sunday Mass.
RUNNING LATE? Students who are not picked up in front of the church at the end of rehearsal can be found in After Care in the Hall. After Care charges apply after 3:30 PM.
MORE INFORMATION on the Wednesday Mass Choir:
Third graders may be in the choir if they are ready to be a role model for the other students. If a student is fidgety, or has trouble paying attention during Mass, then he or she should wait until the following semester to join the choir.
Students need to be able to read the words in the Gather and S&S song books. Students who have great difficulty reading typical verses should consider waiting until the second semester to join the choir.
All students should make the choir a regular activity. We only practice for 30 minutes a week. All of this practice contributes to a good choral sound, and each week builds on the previous week. A student with irregular attendance will be dropped from the choir.
If a student misses rehearsal, that student will not sing with the choir at Mass that week, but instead will sit with his or her class; we hope see them at rehearsal the following Monday.
We will not rehearse on weeks that have a Monday holiday.
Rehearsals begin promptly at 2:45 and will end by 3:20. Parents may pick their children in front of the church or they can come in and see the end of the rehearsal. Any student who is not picked up after rehearsal will be sent to After Care. After Care charges begin at 3:30. Siblings who are not in choir will need go to After Care during rehearsals; they are not allowed to wait in the church without adult supervision.
We wish to emphasize that students must be self-disciplined enough to sit respectfully and still during Mass. If they are not yet ready to do this, they should wait until they are. This applies to every student from 3rd to 8th grade.
